Riese & Müller Nevo5

The Riese & Müller Nevo5 is a low step-through electric bike, made in Germany. Step through, put a foot down at the lights, and keep riding: there's no bar to swing a leg over, and a suspension fork with up to 100 mm of travel and 62 mm balloon tyres keep it steady on rough roads.

Ride it to the shops, to work and across the suburb, the trips the car has been doing. Then come in and ride it at Ivanhoe.

Riese & Müller Nevo5 step-through e-bike

There's no top tube on the Nevo5. You step into the low frame, put a foot flat on the road when you stop, and push off again. Fully Charged called the frame "extremely stiff" for a low step-through. For 2026 every Nevo5 also gets new geometry and a steering damper, for more control at speed.

Broken bitumen stops jarring your hands and back. An SR Suntour Mobie34 fork with 80 or 100 mm of travel sits up front, and puncture-resistant Schwalbe Super Moto-X tyres, 62 mm wide, roll on 27.5 in wheels. A suspension seatpost is an option.

It's made for the trips the car has been doing: the shops, the commute, across the suburb. The MIK HD rear rack is rated to 27 kg and approved by Riese & Müller for a child seat. On the hub-gear builds a Gates Carbon Drive belt does the chain's job, so there's no chain oil on your clothes and little upkeep between services.

A frame lock and chain come with it. Lock up outside the café or the shops and take the battery inside with you: it comes out of the frame, and the charging socket sits on the top tube.

On a free morning the upright riding position keeps a long path ride comfortable all the way to the coffee at the end. Ride a pair on a rail-trail weekend together, and the Range Extender 250 option adds battery capacity for the longer days.

How far will it go?

How far it goes depends on the battery you choose, the assist level, the hills, the load and the rider. Depending on the build, the Bosch PowerTube battery is 540, 600, 720 or 800 Wh, with an 800 Wh upgrade and the Range Extender 250 available. Bring your usual rides in and we'll run them through Bosch's range assistant with you.

Which size and build should I pick?

Check your height before you book. The Nevo5 comes in four frame sizes:

• S, 40 cm frame, riders about 1.55 to 1.70 m
• M, 45 cm frame, riders about 1.65 to 1.80 m
• L, 50 cm frame, riders about 1.75 to 1.90 m
• XL, 55 cm frame, riders about 1.85 to 2.10 m

Starting at about 1.55 m, the smallest frame gives shorter riders a bike they can reach and control. When you come in, we size you and set the saddle, bars and stem before you ride.

Pick the build for how you ride. The Nevo5 comes in six builds here: silent CORE, vario CORE, touring, vario, automatic and rohloff. Between them they cover five gear systems:

• Enviolo Automatic, which shifts for you, so there are no gears to think about
• Enviolo continuous shifting, with no steps between gears
• the Rohloff E-14 hub, with fourteen gears
• a Shimano XT 11-speed derailleur on the touring
• a Shimano Nexus 5-speed hub

Questions riders ask about the Nevo5

Is the Riese & Müller Nevo5 worth it over a cheaper step-through?

Ride it and you'll know. The stiff low frame, the suspension and, on the hub builds, the belt drive are things you feel in the first kilometre. The frame and rear swing arm carry a 5-year guarantee, and we look after the bike in our own workshop.

How far will a Nevo5 go on one charge?

That depends on the battery you choose, the assist level, the hills, the load and the rider. Choose from 540 to 800 Wh, add the Range Extender 250 for long days, and we'll work out your own rides with Bosch's range assistant.

What size Nevo5 do I need for my height?

Small suits riders about 1.55 to 1.70 m, medium 1.65 to 1.80 m, large 1.75 to 1.90 m and extra large 1.85 to 2.10 m. If you sit between two, ride both on the day.

Which Nevo5 build should I get?

Tell us how you ride. If you'd rather never think about gears, the automatic shifts for you; the rohloff gives fourteen gears; the hub-gear builds run the clean Gates belt. You can try them on a ride before you choose.

Can a bigger rider ride the Nevo5?

Yes. The rider rating is 125 kg, and the 160 kg total covers bike, rider and luggage together. On the lightest build, at 27.7 kg, that leaves about 132 kg for you and your bags.

Is the Nevo5 heavy to put on a car?

To carry it on a car, a hitch rack with a ramp does the lifting, and the battery comes out first.

Can I leave the Nevo5 locked up outside?

A frame lock and chain come with it. Lock it to something solid and take the battery inside with you.

Can I put a child seat on the Nevo5?

The MIK HD rear rack is approved by Riese & Müller for child seats and rated to 27 kg.

Is the Nevo5 legal on Victorian roads?

Bosch specifies 250 W pedal assist that cuts out at 25 km/h. Road rules are set by each state: Victoria Police publishes the Victorian e-bike rules, and riders elsewhere should check their own state's rules.

How do I charge the battery safely?

Charge only with the original Bosch charger and follow Bosch's charging and storage guidance. If a battery is damaged, stop using it and bring it in to us.
