The Charger5 Mixte is a Riese & Müller e-bike with a Bosch drive, a carrier rated to 27 kg and a lowered top tube. It is built so the car can stay home for the trip to work, hill included, and the same bike does the rail trail in the holidays. Five trims.

The hill on the way in stops deciding your route

Torque is what climbs. The touring, touring pro, vario and rohloff trims carry the Bosch Performance Line CX drive with 85 Nm as standard, and up to 120 Nm with Bosch's Performance Upgrade.

Riders up to 125 kg are covered, with 160 kg in total for bike, rider and everything carried.

Less leg to lift getting on and off

The lowered top tube of the Mixte gives more clearance in the aluminium frame, so getting on and off takes less of a leg lift.

Range, battery and carrying loads

You plan the distance on your own route

Assist mode, load, hills and rider weight all set how far it goes on the route you actually ride. Capacity does the rest: an 800 Wh Bosch PowerTube on the touring, touring pro, vario and rohloff trims, 540 Wh on silent CORE.

The battery sits in the down tube and comes out for charging indoors, or charges on the bike through the socket on the lowered top tube. For longer days, the optional Bosch PowerMore 250 Wh Range Extender adds to the 800 Wh battery. It is not offered on silent CORE.

The school run and the weekly shop go on the bike

The MIK HD carrier is standard and rated to 27 kg, and the MIK HD child seat clips on. The pannier struts take 2 × 7.5 kg, and a front basket or handlebar bag takes 5 kg.

Keep the limits together: 27 kg on the carrier, riders up to 125 kg, 160 kg in total. Child seat and trailer use is subject to your state's rules.

The optional Bosch eBike ABS (Magura MT C ABS) is available on the touring, touring pro, vario and rohloff trims, and not on silent CORE.

• Silent CORE: Shimano Nexus Inter-5E 5-speed hub with Gates CDX belt. Touring: Shimano XT 11-speed Linkglide. Touring pro: Shimano Di2 XT 11-speed Linkglide, electronic. Vario: Enviolo Utility V1 continuous hub with Gates CDX belt. Rohloff: Rohloff Speedhub E14 14-speed with Gates CDX belt, shifting that can run automatic, with low upkeep.
• Derailleur trims: Shimano CUES 11 to 50T cassette, KMC X11 chain, 42T chainring.
• Belt trims: silent CORE 52T and 36T, vario 55T and 24T, rohloff 55T and 19T.

• CX trims: Fox AWL 34 Air fork with 100 mm travel and a By.Schulz G.2 ST suspension seatpost, a robust, responsive front end built for e-bikes. Silent CORE: SR Suntour Mobie 34 fork with 100 mm travel and a Satori Elegance-LT seatpost.
• 27.5 in wheels with Rodi Tryp35 Evo rims and Schwalbe Motion Super Moto-X tyres, 148 mm rear dropout.
• Ergon ST20 Gel saddle and VP R&M Custom pedals on the CX trims. The adjustable-angle stem sets the riding position to you.
• Curana Orbit 70 mudguards and an Ursus R97 IC Invisible Connect kickstand.
• Options on the touring, touring pro, vario and rohloff trims: Limotec Delta 6 dropper seatpost, Comfort kit, Offroad kit.

Is 250 W enough for hills?

Torque does the climbing, and the CX drive brings 85 Nm as standard, up to 120 Nm with Bosch's Performance Upgrade, from a motor rated 250 W nominal with assistance to 25 km/h.

How far will the Charger5 Mixte go on a charge?

It depends on assist mode, load, hills and the rider. The 800 Wh battery on the CX trims and the optional Range Extender let you plan your own route.

Can I fit a child seat?

Yes, the MIK HD carrier takes the MIK HD child seat. The carrier is rated to 27 kg, riders up to 125 kg, 160 kg in total, and child seat rules differ by state.

Does it come with a lock?

The touring, touring pro, vario and rohloff trims come with a frame lock, chain lock and bag. Silent CORE comes with a Trelock frame lock and chain.

Are e-bike batteries safe?

This one is Bosch's integrated PowerTube, charged with Bosch's own charger. Follow Bosch's storage guidance.
