Focus Jam 6.8

The Focus Jam 6.8 (FOCUS calls it the JAM² 6.8) is a full-suspension electric mountain bike built to give you the climbs back. Its Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor, 85 Nm, takes the steep pinches, so you ride the climbs your legs used to do and keep the trails you love.

Underneath it, 160 mm RockShox Lyrik Select and 150 mm Super Deluxe Select suspension on an alloy JAM² frame, made for all-mountain trails. Book a test ride at our Ivanhoe showroom and feel the first climb for yourself.

You still pedal every climb

The motor multiplies your effort, with assistance up to 25 km/h (Bosch's figure), so a steep pitch stops deciding how far you ride.

FOCUS describes the shock tune (how the rear shock is set up) as "firm, reactive and sporty as it gets without compromising on traction", and the geometry (the frame's shape and angles) as balanced, with even weight distribution uphill and plenty of traction on the front wheel.

A balanced bike under you

The 600 Wh (watt-hours, the battery's size) Bosch PowerTube battery is removable with a pivot and keeps the weight low and central. The bike weighs 24.8 kg (size M, 600 Wh, without pedals), and one reviewer said it "doesn't ride that heavy. It's zippy and really well balanced".

It feels lighter on the trail than on the scale.

Ride together again

Everyone regroups at the top of the climb, and you arrive with legs left for the descent. One owner keeps their e-MTB "for group rides" (@Hotwheels_mtb on X).

How far does it go?

These are Bosch Range Assistant estimates for the Performance Line CX with the PowerTube 600 in an eMTB set-up, at 100 kg total weight, 18 km/h average, 60 rpm (pedal turns per minute), on a mixed tour with some inclines, mostly good asphalt, light breezes, in summer, on hybrid bike tyres.

Bosch states they are estimates that vary with the type of use and external influences. The four figures below are for the motor's four assistance modes (how much help it gives you).

• ECO: about 122 to 125 km
• TOUR+: about 101 to 103 km
• eMTB: about 92 to 93 km
• TURBO: about 80 to 82 km

The bike takes the Bosch 250 Wh range extender (an extra battery that adds distance) in every size, giving four configurations from 600 to 1050 Wh. With the Bosch PowerMore 250 on the same settings, Bosch estimates about 174 to 179 km in ECO, 145 to 147 km in TOUR+, 132 to 133 km in eMTB and 114 to 116 km in TURBO.

FOCUS classifies the bike Condition 4, all-mountain (the maker's rating for how hard a bike can be ridden): drops and jumps under 120 cm, rough downhill gradients at speeds under 40 km/h.

Powerful brakes pair with 200 mm discs (the metal rotors the brake pads grip), and the tyres are soft, 2.6 inches wide, with a strong casing (the tough tyre wall).

It is rated to a 150 kg permissible system weight (rider, bike and luggage together), which Flow Mountain Bike called one of the highest it is aware of.

Is the Focus Jam 6.8 worth it for an aluminium bike?

It gives you Bosch's Gen 5 CX motor and RockShox Select suspension without paying for carbon, and Elektro Rad rated its price/performance "Very Good" (9/2025).

How far will the Focus Jam 6.8 go on one charge?

Bosch estimates about 92 to 93 km in eMTB mode and about 80 to 82 km in TURBO, under the conditions set out above, and your result moves with how you ride.

Is an e-bike allowed on my local trails?

Bosch rates this motor at 250 W continuous, with assistance to 25 km/h. Trail access is set by each park's land manager, so check your trail's rules, or ask us at the showroom.

Is 24.8 kg too heavy to handle?

It rides balanced, with the battery low and central. That figure is size M, 600 Wh, without pedals. The battery is removable, and Bosch's walk assist with Hill Hold helps when you push.

Are Focus bikes any good?

Focus was founded in 1993 by cyclocross world champion Mike Kluge, and its bikes are developed in Stuttgart. The JAM² has been on trails since 2016. We service every bike we sell in our Ivanhoe workshop.

Will the motor cope with rain and mud?

Bosch builds the drive unit in a magnesium housing with a sealing concept against splash water.

What does the warranty cover?

FOCUS extends its e-bike frame warranty when you register the bike. We service it in our Ivanhoe workshop, and your first service is included at 300 km.

Which size fits me?

There are four sizes, S to XL, with dropper travel matched to each. We size you at a test ride.

Is there a Focus for harder downhill riding?

The Jam 6.8 is made for all-mountain trails, with drops under 120 cm. Loam Wolf says that if you want to push hard on the way down, the Focus SAM is the one to look at. Ask us and we'll talk you through which suits your riding.
