The Focus Aventura2 6.8 FS is a full-suspension step-through e-bike made for rail trails, gravel paths and fire roads. Step through to get on, drop the saddle as you roll to a stop, and put both feet flat on the ground.
Between stops, a 120 mm air fork and a 100 mm rear shock take the corrugations and roots, Bosch's Performance Line CX drive does the climbing, and an 800 Wh battery lets you plan the longer ride. Come and ride it at our Ivanhoe showroom, or ring 03 9982 1440 to book a test ride.
John says...
’What I like about this bike is the stop. You step through to get on, and when you roll to a halt you drop the saddle and put both feet flat on the ground. Then there's the rest of it: a 120 mm fork and a 100 mm rear shock to take the gravel and the rail trail, and the Bosch CX motor for the hills. Come to Ivanhoe, stand over it in your size and take it for a ride.‘
Aventura2 6.8 FS: built for rail trails
Made for rail trails, gravel paths and fire roads
Focus rates the Aventura2 6.8 FS for unpaved and gravel roads and trails with moderate gradients and drops of 15 cm or less. A 120 mm SR Suntour Mobie 34 air fork and a 100 mm SR Suntour Edge-X R rear shock take the corrugations, roots and kerb edges before they reach your back. E-MOUNTAINBIKE's test says cobblestone roads or kerbs "can become the ultimate comfort killer on many trekking hardtails". A rear shock is what changes that. Focus calls this its most comfortable e-allround bike. It isn't a mountain bike. The suspension is there for comfort on unsealed ground, from the first stop to the last.
Riders who go further say it best. One owner on the Whirlpool e-bike forum, 35,000 km across two e-bikes, talks about finding "routes to get there that you never knew existed".
Step through to get on. Drop the saddle to stop
The step-through frame has no top tube to swing a leg over, so you step through at the kerb, at the trailhead, even with panniers on the rack. Roll to a stop, drop the Post Moderne DP-212 dropper (100 mm on a size S, 125 mm on M, 150 mm on L and XL) and both feet go flat on the ground. Raise it again to ride. E-MOUNTAINBIKE says a dropper post "is now a must-have" for getting your feet on the ground at traffic lights. The riding position is upright, so you sit tall and look where you're going.
Keep riding the routes you know
The step-through frame, the dropper and the suspension are what keep a favourite loop, the club ride or the trail you love comfortable to ride. If you've been trimming the rough bits out of your routes, this is the bike that puts them back. A Waterloo cycling-club rider, quoted in a 2024 study, described the choice as quitting or getting "an e-bike so I can even out the bumps and keep riding".
Power, battery and carrying a load
Bosch power for the hill you've been dreading
The Performance Line CX (Gen 5) sits at the cranks and gives 85 Nm as delivered, 120 Nm after Bosch's update through the Flow app. Pair that with a Shimano Cues 11-48T cassette for a wide spread of gears. One rider on a Performance Line CX, on the Whirlpool e-bike forum:
"Bosch mid drive will smash the hills".
Long days out
The Bosch PowerTube 800 holds 800 Wh, sits inside the down tube and lifts out from the top, so you can plan the longer ride and still bring the battery indoors to charge.
Carries the weekend
The Massload MIK rear rack takes 20 kg of panniers for a trail weekend or the shops, and the bike is approved for two-track trailers when the load is bigger. The permissible system weight is 150 kg, counting you, your gear and the bike. Take off the bike's 31 kg (size M, without pedals) and that leaves about 119 kg for you and your gear. Focus describes it as equally well equipped for long tours and for carrying loads across the city. The alloy fenders and kickstand are already on it, and the 100 lux headlight lights the way home at dusk, so the ride to work or the run to the shops is part of the same bike. Four sizes, S to XL, so you and the people you ride with can each get the right fit.

Who it suits
- Best for rail trails, gravel paths and fire roads, where the 120 mm fork and 100 mm rear shock keep a long day comfortable.
- Best for the rider who wants both feet flat at every stop: step through to get on, drop the saddle as you stop.
- Best for a trail weekend with panniers: 20 kg on the rack, a trailer behind when the load is bigger.
- Best for the hill on your usual route: Bosch's Performance Line CX with an 11-48T cassette.
- Best for the shops and the commute as well: lights, fenders and kickstand are on the bike.
- Made for unsealed paths, so for technical mountain-bike trails, talk to us about the right bike.

Questions people ask
How far will it go on one charge?
Bosch's Range Assistant estimates about 136 to 142 km in TOUR mode for this drive and battery, at 100 kg total weight, 18 km/h average, a mixed tour with some inclines on mostly good asphalt, in summer. The other modes: about 179 to 181 km in ECO, 120 to 122 km in SPORT and 112 to 113 km in TURBO. Bosch states these are estimates that vary with the type of use and external influences, so hills, headwind, load and higher assist all shorten the number.
Can I put both feet flat on the ground when I stop?
Yes. That's what the step-through frame and the dropper are for. Come in and stand over it in your size, and we set the saddle and bars so you can feel it before you ride.
How heavy is it, and can I put it on a car rack?
It weighs 31 kg with the 800 Wh battery (size M, without pedals). The battery lifts out and weighs 3.9 kg, so taking it out first lightens the lift. Check your car rack's per-bike rating against that weight before you plan to carry it.
Can I ride this e-bike where I live?
Bosch rates the motor at 250 W continuous output, with assistance to 25 km/h. E-bike rules are set by each state and territory, so check your state's e-bike page, and ask us in the showroom.
Is the Aventura2 6.8 FS an electric mountain bike?
No. It's a full-suspension step-through e-bike for rail trails, gravel paths and fire roads, and Focus rates it Condition 2: unpaved and gravel roads and trails with moderate gradients and drops of 15 cm or less. The suspension is there for comfort. If your riding is rougher than that, come in and talk to us about the right bike.
Which size do I need?
It comes in S, M, L and XL. Come in and we'll size you on the bike and set the saddle, bars and stem.
Can I take the battery out to charge it indoors?
Yes. The Bosch PowerTube 800 lifts out from the top of the down tube, so it can come inside to charge. Charge it with an original Bosch charger, as Bosch instructs.
Is the Focus Aventura2 6.8 FS good value?
Everything a long day out needs comes on the bike from Focus: Bosch's Performance Line CX drive, an 800 Wh battery, full suspension, a dropper, lights, a rack and fenders. Your first service is included at 300 km in our Ivanhoe workshop. Ride it on the gravel and judge it there.
Who services it, and what warranty does it have?
We service every bike we sell in our Ivanhoe workshop. Focus offers an extended manufacturer's warranty on its e-bike frames, with registration on Focus's warranty page.
Who are Focus?
Focus is FOCUS Bikes GmbH, the maker of the Aventura² range of full-suspension e-allround bikes. This one runs Bosch's Performance Line CX drive and Shimano MT420 4-piston brakes, and Focus offers an extended manufacturer's warranty on its e-bike frames, with registration on Focus's warranty page.
How do I set up the suspension?
A QR code on the frame links to Focus's suspension set-up support.
Does it work with Bosch's ConnectModule?
The bike is ready for the Bosch Smart System ConnectModule. The module is sold separately and is not included.
