The Kalkhoff Endeavour 3.B MOVE WA is a trekking e-bike for everyday rides, rail trails and the commute, with a 600 Wh Bosch battery and the step-through frame in four sizes for riders from 150 to 196 cm tall. A quiet Bosch Performance Line Smart System motor gives you 75 Nm of help on the hill you had started avoiding. Ride it on the hills around our Ivanhoe showroom before you decide.

Kalkhoff Endeavour 3 Move

The low frame is Kalkhoff's Wave shape, built in aluminium. With no top tube in the way, you walk the bike to the kerb and step in. No hop. When the traffic stops, you just put a foot down. If you're on the short side, from 150 cm tall, this is the frame that fits: it's the only one Kalkhoff makes in size Small.

The motor sits at the pedals and helps only while you pedal, working through a Shimano Cues 9-speed with an 11-41 cassette. Stop halfway up and hill-start assist gets you moving again.

Range and weight

How far will it go?

Kalkhoff quotes up to 120 km on the 600 Wh Bosch PowerTube battery. Your own number depends on:

• the assist level you ride in
• your weight and what you carry
• the hills on your route
• wind and temperature
• tyre pressure

It weighs 29 kg with the battery. When you are off the bike and pushing it, walk assist moves it along at up to 4 km/h. The 3.0 kg battery lifts out on a key lock, which takes the bike down to about 26 kg before it goes up onto a car rack.

Equipment, fit and comfort

Riding to work up a hill and want to arrive fit to walk in?

It leaves Kalkhoff with the commuting kit already fitted, so there's nothing to add before the first ride:

• Herrmans MR5 front and H-Trace rear LED lights that run off the 600 Wh main battery, so there is nothing else to charge
• front and rear mudguards
• a MIK HD rear rack rated to 27 kg for panniers or the shopping on the way home
• an adjustable rear stand
• a chainring cover to keep trouser legs off the teeth
• comfort pedals and aluminium cranks

Rail trails and sealed roads are its ground. For the gravel paths and rough bitumen in between, there's an SR Suntour coil fork with 80 mm of travel to soak up the bumps, and Schwalbe Green Marathon touring tyres with a reflective stripe on 29-inch aluminium rims (27.5-inch on the Small). It is also ready for Kalkhoff's front carrier set.

You sit upright, head up, hands on a raised trekking bar with Ergon GC10 grips and an adjustable stem, on a Selle Royal Essenza Plus saddle. The seat post is rigid aluminium, so the comfort comes from sitting upright, the saddle and the fork. Before you ride, we set the saddle, bars and stem to you.

Kalkhoff's rider-height guide:

• Small, 150 to 166 cm, on 27.5-inch wheels
• Medium, 160 to 186 cm, on 29-inch wheels
• Large, 174 to 191 cm, on 29-inch wheels
• Extra Large, 187 to 196 cm, on 29-inch wheels

If your height sits where two sizes overlap, the test ride settles it. The step-through comes in all four sizes in Jetgrey matt or Nepalsilver glossy. If you want a cross-bar frame instead, the Diamond version comes in Medium, Large and Extra Large in Nepalsilver.

Who looks after it in year six?

Register the bike with Kalkhoff the week you collect it. Leave it past eight weeks and the frame warranty is gone.

Display, battery and care

On the bar sits the Bosch Purion 200, a small colour display that brightens and dims with the light and reads in English and metric. Leave the bike idle for about 10 minutes and it switches the system off. Pair it with Bosch's eBike Flow app over Bluetooth for navigation, ride tracking and software updates. eBike Lock, a digital key in the app, comes with it; Bosch's Battery Lock needs a paid Flow+ subscription.

Charge the battery on the bike through the charge port, or lift it out and charge it inside. It can go on at any charge level; use an original Bosch smart system charger. The battery is integrated in the down tube, rated IP55, and its management system guards against deep discharge, overload, overheating and short circuit. Charge it between 0 and 40 °C and never leave it charging unattended. If the bike will sit for more than three months, store the battery at 30 to 60 percent charge and check it every six months. Never clean the bike with a high-pressure cleaner, and keep at least 100 mm of seat post inside the frame.

Note down the frame number stamped into the frame and the serial label under the bottom bracket or down tube; both identify the bike if it is stolen.

Questions people ask

Which version is this?

This is the 2026 bike, which Kalkhoff calls the Endeavour 3 Move: 600 Wh Bosch PowerTube, 75 Nm Bosch Performance Line Smart System and Purion 200 display. A listing showing 500 Wh is an earlier bike.

I haven't heard of Kalkhoff. Are they any good?

Kalkhoff Werke, based in Emstek in Germany, was founded in 1919.

Am I allowed to ride it?

It is a pedal-assist bike: the motor helps only while you pedal. Kalkhoff rates the motor at 250 W, assistance stops at 25 km/h, and Kalkhoff declares the bike an EPAC to the European standard EN 15194:2017, with CE and UKCA marks. Road rules differ by state, and Kalkhoff itself tells riders to check theirs.

Will it take me and my bags?

Kalkhoff rates it to 150 kg for bike, rider and bags together. The bike is 29 kg of that, which leaves 121 kg for you and your load.

Can I put a child seat on the rack?

The rear rack is a MIK HD carrier rated to 27 kg, and Kalkhoff asks you to confirm a child seat with us before you buy one.

I've just been cleared to ride again after an operation. Is this a sensible place to start?

The ride starts by stepping through, not climbing over. Talk it through with your clinician, then take a slow first ride with us on quiet streets.
